Road to IMM — Coffee Table Book Series

Commissioned by BMW Group Classic, this ongoing editorial project documents a series of iconic road trips undertaken by MINI Classic cars to the annual International MINI Meeting (IMM) across Europe. Spanning three editions—2017, 2018, and 2019—each book captures a unique journey through multiple countries, blending storytelling, photography, and design into collectible coffee table publications.

For each edition, {ths} was responsible for the editorial design and overall visual concept of the book. In 2017, a custom typeface was developed exclusively for the series, inspired by the original “COOPER” lettering from the historic MINI COOPER logo. The books feature dynamic layouts and full-spread photography by renowned automotive photographer Amy Shore, who documented the spirit of the journey from behind the lens in both the 2017 and 2019 editions.

The 2019 volume, the most extensive to date, spans over 250 pages and follows a route from Athens to Bristol, crossing 10 countries. Together, the series not only captures the adventurous essence of the MINI brand but also reflects a strong design language that evolves with each trip.
